No African experience is the same. We are a diverse continent full of vibrant cultures. You can see it in the way we talk, the way we live and the way we dance to the beat of our own drums. We welcome you to engage in this dialogue in our SS23' Luku-book featuring fits from Akiba Haiozi, creative director behind Nairobi based Akiba Studios.
The fashion industry is growing and Akiba Studios is at the forefront of the streetwear fashion scene. Akiba is a multi- disciplinary visual artist who uses various mediums to tell new African narratives. His journey of creativity began when he was introduced to an art project in primary school. He has always been a connoisseur of fashion and art, and once he started thrifting garments for himself. Akiba's art is based on traditional cultural aesthetics, Afro Futurism, street culture, and science fiction. He tries to make a product that speaks for Kenyan streetwear by using his art techniques as an illustrator to transition into fashion. He infuses all these elements when designing. His collections are the canvas for a kaleidoscope of unique stories that ignite nostalgia and evoke a sense of belonging. Shot in Amsterdam.
